Historic Mitchell House

Historic Homes - Sulphur Springs Texas - Mitchell House

The Historic Mitchell House in Sulphur Springs traces its beginnings to 1900, when Captain Winfield Scott “W.S.” Mitchell purchased the land and remains of the Sulphur Springs Bottling Works after a fire destroyed the original plant in 1895.

Located at the corner of College and Mitchell Streets, for years, Captain Mitchell produced a wide variety of sodas that were popular at the turn of the century—flavors like root beer, sarsaparilla, ginger ale, lemon-lime, grape, and orange. In the early 1910s, he secured exclusive Coca-Cola bottling rights for Hopkins County. Read more about the Historic Mitchell House in Sulphur Springs, Texas
